Jonathan Christy

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Certified Addiction Specialist (CAC II)

Moments when we feel we cannot ask for help are exactly those moments when it can be best to reach out to another human being. Times we think we absolutely must avoid a particular feeling or emotion are precisely those times when an opportunity exists for meaningful healing. Most of us have spent years trying to solve problems with our minds, and yet our bodies and a deeper intuition can always show us the way out.For a holistic approach to health, and the gentleness and care you need to turn the corner, reach out for a consultation. There's never been a better or more important time to experience more relief, ease and empowerment.

THERAPEUTIC FOCUS

If you're looking for more ease in your life — more of a sense of comfort in your own skin and a feeling of empowerment within yourself and in your relationships — we may be a great fit.I have years of experience in numerous clinical settings helping clients of all backgrounds work through stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, patterns of negative thinking and substance use. I'm especially passionate about providing the kind of care and tools that interfere with stuckness, self-imposed personal limits, self-defeating and self-critical patterns, and unproductive and painful patterns in relationships.Above all I am interested in helping clients rediscover a sense of safety, confidence, and empowerment, so they can feel better, and live more of the life they want.

GENTLENESS IS THE KEY

Yes, gentleness! In spite of what our culture may have taught us, personal change isn't about whipping ourselves into shape, doubling down on our past strategies, distracting ourselves from our misery or taking on more.On the contrary: we heal when we can begin to befriend ourselves, when we ease up on our usual strategies, and open ourselves up to new options for responding to familiar situations and emotions.I am a mindfulness-based and somatically-trained therapist, which means that in addition to talking through what's going on in your life, we can take advantage of really powerful mindfulness and body-oriented techniques and skills (skills that are especially useful in working with anxiety and depression). But everything we do will be held within an atmosphere of profound gentleness — friendliness not only to the person you wish to be, but also to the person you are right now.
